2. Houston Zoo
One of the most imaginative places to visit, the Houston Zoo is situated in a wide area comprising of various species of animals, making it one of the most visited zoos in the nation. The zoo is best known for giraffe feeding. Feeding giraffe is an all-time favorite for a visit to the Houston Zoo. Go to the giraffe feeding platform and feed crispy lettuce to the giraffe you can see near the ostriches and zebras’ enclosure. Depending upon the weather, you can purchase the tickets near the giraffe and closure at the southwest part of the zoo.
Like the other animals in the zoo, the gorillas have two habitats. One is an outside habitat which is like the African forest, and the other is a night house with private bedrooms. Visitors do not need to pay for two different tickets to see this gigantic primate. The water play park is also terrific. The Park includes various water features, including a tall fill and spill water tree, which activates when the visitor’s step on one of the touch sensors. The Park is open from April to October when the temperature shoots above 70 degrees.
You could also ride the Carousel: heading towards the children’s zoo on the west side of the Park, one cannot miss the wildlife carousel. You can see handcuffed and colourfully painted animals in the zoo itself, making it a favourite of fun-time visitors and long-time members alike. Tickets are available to ride the Carousel at the Carousel itself or agri-admission booth.
Zoo boo: during the weekends, the visitors are encouraged to come to the Houston Zoo in full costume and participate in Halloween-related activities featuring temporary tattoos, mazes, pumpkin patches, and trick-or-treat stations set up throughout the zoo. During the winter season, the zoo is transformed into a holiday themed Winter Wonderland with holiday tunes, hot cocoa, and extravagant lighting.
