14. Promontory Point at Burnham Park

Located on the southern side of Chicago’s lakefront, the Burnham Park is a 600 acre land property. On it is the Promontory Point. The Point is an artificial, human made peninsula which was created using landfill by Alfred Caldwell. Soon, for protective reasons, a seawall was built around. Native stones, plants, sitting rings of stone and a central house for venues of weddings adorn the point and people sit and relax here, enjoying the view of the Lake Michigan, and also witnessing the exuberant fireworks from the Navy Pier. You could also go kayaking, swimming, surfing or sunbathing in the lake from this point.

Other than this, a popular skate park is situated near this point where people hang out skating in the days. Moreover, numerous bird sanctuaries are also located nearby, where animal enthusiasts drop by to rendezvous. The land stone revetment present on the borders of the promontory point meets the Lake and resembles the oceans.
