16. The Oak Street Beach
While Chicago boasts of its closeness with the waters, it wouldn’t be fair to not give the credit to its wonderful, awe-inspiring beaches that are best right to take care of every soul in the summer heat. Stretching along the Oak Street and Lake Michigan, the oak street beach continues to allure tourists for strolls and swimming all through the summer. You could swim parallel to the shores or just sunbathe in the sand, while enjoying the best beverages and snacks from the Oak Street Beach Café. Amateur and professional volleyball games take place every now and then, and you could rent chairs and bikes to chill if you’re not a water person. There is an extraordinary attraction, a mural that says “You Know What You Should Do” painted by Jeff Zimmermann. The mural is educational towards necessary measures to be taken by tourists so as to not litter or feed the wildlife.
The beach also offers a spectacular view of the skyline of the city. Over time, the oak street beach of Chicago established itself as the city’s most visited swimming place. People like to go and flaunt their Instagram once every while. Landfill has been significantly used at places to make the place fancier and more desirable, to make it sandier and exceptional of the summer heat.
