18. Oriental Institute Museum
The oriental institute museum or the OI is an ancient archaeological museum located in Chicago. It was built as a research centre for historical sites and houses more than 350 thousand artefacts in it, of which 500 are put to exhibition. Its resources are today known as the world’s best to study the rich history of the Middle East. Sketching and drawing are allowed within the premises to give inspiration to young artists. Photography is also permitted but use of professional items of lightning, sticks, and tripods is prohibited.
The museum recognises its aim to understand, protect and interpret the rich history of the Middle East and make their findings resourceful for further research. The institute hosts several events from time to time, including readings of old books findings, podcasting, discussions, displays and argumentative conversations. In the time of pandemics like present, the museum hosts both line and offline events. The University of Chicago houses this museum and boasts of the museum being the world’s first ever interdisciplinary research centre.
