Top 30 breathtaking places to visit in Chicago

23. The 606

Multipurpose park and recreational trail, the 606 is 4.3 kilometre long, and has been created from an abandoned railway line. Shrubs and flowering bushes have grown around the train over time and do make the path an excellent place for walking and stalling. The train offers you a safe pathway where you can ride bikes Hike or just walk while enjoying the best views of the city.

But the 606 is way more than just the elevated part known as the Bloomingdale trail. 606 is a larger escape which includes the train and Sixth Street level parks, of which two are still in construction. The economically and socially important freight LINE which served the early industries of Chicago divided the whole area into neighbourhoods. When the rain service ended, the railway line was left abandoned.

The 606 has been given new life on the west side of Chicago. There are several scenic lookout points’ public art installations and an observer today that lines this trail. The observatory known as the Exelon observatory is the perfect spot to enjoy sunsets and witness regular astronomy nights. A park famously known as the Julia de Burgos Park is a half-acre park which is featured by spider sculpture, climbing web and well decorated wall which is loved by children and adults alike.
